Characteristics Of XPE / IXPE Foam

What is XPE? In short, it's plastic. But different production processes make XPE have some new features. XPE is a kind of chemical PE foam made of PE raw material after foaming. XPE foam, namely chemical crosslinked polyethylene foam material, is made of low-density polyethylene resin and crosslinking agent and foaming agent through continuous foaming at high temperature. It is a new environmental protection packaging material with non crosslinked closed cell structure. It is composed of numerous independent bubbles produced by physical foaming of LDPE. We can imagine the honeycomb. The vacuum bubbles in XPE are as uniform and dense as the honeycomb. Because of this, XPE has more characteristics and is widely used in our life.


Characteristics of XPE / IXPE foam

A. buffering

It is a semi-rigid foaming body, which can not lose its original performance after strong impact. It is mainly used in precision instruments, semiconductor packaging and other fields. It can also be used in the production of sports protection articles and leisure articles by its easy formability.


B. formability

With strong heat resistance, good ductility and even density, it can be used for forming deep parts such as vacuum forming and hot forming, so it can be used for interior parts such as automobile air conditioning evaporation cabinet, automobile hot pressing ceiling and shoes materials.


C. sound absorption

With sound absorption and noise reduction function, it is suitable for strong noise equipment such as aircraft, railway vehicles, automobiles, motors and sound absorption and sound insulation materials in the environment.


D. thermal insulation

Its fine and independent bubble structure can effectively reduce the energy exchange caused by air convection, and is suitable for making heat preservation tubes and heat preservation plates.
